Fantastic Voyage: First Scene Render Test - with Voiceover

Here's a test render I have, along with music and professional voice over! As it stands, there are still changes I want to make (more vibrant, less reflective, and get some of my own mark making on those surfaces if I can). But anyway, work in progress!

  1. I think it's great you've got your voice-over - that must have been exciting! I think you need to revisit your fern design here; the fact that the blades are straight onto the camera mean this isn't as visually interesting as it could be - it does look very 'plastic' and 'kit-form' still, and I just think that tilting the leaves a little bit towards us - and tilting them in different directions slightly so it looks more organic would be good. Also - I'm assuming you haven't uv-ed your shapes, so you're using shaders etc. I just really encourage you to think in a more painterly way about your textures, which means committing to the pipeline more fulsomely; you've got the voice-over, you've got your concept art - but I just don't think your actual image-making is yet as enticing or representative of your art style as it could or should be. Take a another look at your Maya assets; are they really as refined and as aesthetically pleasing as they could be?
