Pixellation Animation - The Hole

Pixellation Animation we made in Meg's class today. We were first shown some videos that use the same technique and then thought of our own quick animation, we had good fun making it and it made us think in new ways, like how to get Sam to appear out from the 'hole' in the floor. I'm quite pleased with the outcome :)

Face Morphing

Yesterday with Meg we created a short animation in our group of seven. We drew the person sitting to the left of us, then passed it to them to trace, leaving them with two key frames of two normal faces. We numbered these as frames 1 and 9. Then we used a 'ladder' technique to morph the two drawings in a smooth cycle. Basically using frame 1 and frame 9 on top of the light box and with a new piece of paper we drew the in between point to create frame 5. Frame 1 and 5 to get frame 3, frame 1 and 3 to get frame 2 and so forth until we had all 9 frames drawn. We then took it in turns to photograph our drawings with software Dragon so we could playback our full animation with everyone's face at the end. The final outcome worked really well and this is because the ladder technique made sure the frames were constant and smooth and the peg bar kept everything in place so our drawings were aligned correctly.
Here's the end product :)

Still Life

Today we created an arrangement of objects on the floor of the life drawing room to observe and replicate in the style that we wished - I found the task fun yet challenging.
We began making a drawing of what we could see and most people used charcoal / graphite as their medium, and we were given about 20 - 30 minutes to do this. The second time was much more free and independent style, I used mixed media for my piece. I started out with pencil, then fine liner, marker pens, water and coloured pastels; trying to create a good sense of perspective by adding more tone and detail into the objects nearest me. The final piece was a mixture of 4 / 5 different people's styles on one sheet of paper... we drew some of the still life for 3 minutes then moved clockwise round the circle to add something to the next drawing. The outcomes were interesting and it was a unique way of working.

Character and Animation

In our animation workshop with Meg on 4-10-13 we got together in groups of 4 and each had a piece of paper folded into 4 sections. We each then had to draw a head / face (however we wanted) and then pass on to the next person to draw the body, then the legs and finally the feet. This meant that in the end we had four strange hybrid creatures which we showed to the others and had a bit of a laugh.
We then chose one of these characters to develop frame by frame from just a circle as a starting point on a sheet of paper on the wall. Each time we made a slight change to the image we took a picture using software Dragon connected to a camera on a fixed tripod.
I think we did get slightly carried away with the animation as we got further along but we had lots of fun whilst making it. By the end we had about 100 frames and the final video playback was at 12 frames per second.
Here it is !
